Yesterday I spent four hours in the Queen Mary Hospital ER having my back poked, prodded, x-rayed, blah, blah, blah. They've concluded my left shoulder is falling apart so when I pulled the aforementioned muscle in my back, everything went. The muscle has mostly recovered, but left behind severe radiating pain in my shoulder joint that was clearly not heart related. That motivated the doctors to finally start taking pictures and also clears the smoke on two previous visits to the ER where I had radiating pain down my left arm... docs thought it was stress related... evidently NOT... it was the start of my shoulder going. Diagnosis: I have tendinitis and soft tissue damage for now and they've warned about the cartilage being the next thing to go followed by the joint. Cause? Combination of heavy computer bag slung over left shoulder for years, economy class travel, hunched over computer all day and excessive Blackberry use (repetitive stress injury.)
Oh Charles, I am so sorry! Maybe this will get you out of work for awhile so you can stay home and get better, and spend time with the kids and that GORGEOUS wife of yours.

Take care of yourself Charles... Will you have to have surgery or go into physical therapy for your shoulder? I messed my shoulder up a few years ago on a fall and after 3 months of PT, it was stronger than it had been in a long time.

Hey MC, sorry to hear about the injury!! YOu need to take care of it ASAP, as these types only get worse over time , if not treated properly... (speaking from years of back problems). I hope you will be able to get some time to relax and repair now.
Love to you all,
Auntie Pammie xo

might i suggest a laptop backpack? i know how annoying and painful soft tissue injuries can be. i've had plantar fasciitis for about a year now. for a while i could barely walk. tape helps a LOT. i'm sure you don't want to tape up your shoulder, but there may be some support (sling?) you can use when you are at home. well, i hope that however it's resolved, it does so quickly. nsaids and ice, rest, whatever you need to do, it's worth it to finally have pain relief.

I'm going to scrunch my face up Just So and hope that your body finds a way to heal so that you don't feel any more pain.
Sadly, our technology is slowly breaking our bodies down - said I as I sat in a rocking chair with a laptop propped up in my, what else, lap.
Be well, mon ami. We still need to have tea the next time you're in town.
